Professor Raffaella Ocone of Heriot-Watt University recently visited the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and was awarded the CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) Distinguished Scientist certificate.
The certificate was presented by Li Jinghai, academician of CAS and former vice-president of CAS, in recognition of Professor Ocone's long-term and productive collaboration with Chinese research institutions, particularly in advancing research and talent development in process engineering.

As an internationally leading scholar in particle-fluid systems and multiscale modeling, Professor Ocone conducts research on complex system modeling and mesoscience that closely aligns with the work of the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), CAS. She is also a member of the International Panel of Mesoscience (IPM), contributing to the global advancement of this interdisciplinary field.

Professor Raffaella Ocone delivers a plenary report titled “The Role of Chemical Engineering and AI in Achieving Carbon Neutrality” at the Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Technology Forum of the Zhongguancun Forum on March 28, 2025.

Professor Raffaella Ocone delivers the welcome address at the “Mesoscience and Smart Chemical Engineering” sub-forum of the 12th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE12) held in Beijing on July 16, 2025.
With support from the PIFI program, Professor Ocone will continue to deepen cooperation with CAS scientists on key mesoscale scientific challenges in process industries, promote interdisciplinary innovation, and support research related to sustainable manufacturing and the global energy transition.
