Resume
Bona Lu received her BSc in 2003 from Zhejiang University and a PhD in 2010 from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, both in Chemical Engineering. In 2020, she became a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She has published approximately 50 peer-reviewed articles and six books (or book chapters), and has led in excess of 15 projects supported by NSFC, Sinopec, CNPC, Alstom, CHN Energy and CAS. Her coauthored monograph “Diameter-Transformed Fluidized Bed: fundamentals and practice” with SinoPec received the first place award of “Excellent Publications” from China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. She was selected as a member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of CAS in 2015, and received the Natural Science first-class Award from China Society of Particuology in 2020 and the Technological Invention first-class Award from the Chemical Industry and Engineering of China in 2019. She serves as one of the “Young Corresponding Experts” of the journal “Engineering” and as a young editorial board member of Journal of Fuel Chemistry and Technology, and was recognised as a “Most Cited Author” of Chemical Engineering Science and as an “Excellent Young Scholar” of IPE. In 2020, She became the cofounder of an international academic journal “the Innovation”. Her research interests include the meso-scale modelling and simulation of multiphase reacting flow, dynamic methods of catalytic kinetics, and process intensification, in particular for fluidized bed chemical processes such as fluid catalytic cracking, coal/biomass pyrolysis/gasification and methanol-to-olefins processes. She proposed coarse-grid simulation methods by quantifying the dynamic mesoscale/sub-grid structures, and thus has optimised various industrial chemical reactors including the MIP (maximising iso-paraffins process) reactor in collaboration with Sinopec since 2005. Her sub-grid drag model has been developed into the most influential CFD commercial software ANSYS FLUENT.
