Resume

He Zhao is a professor and doctoral supervisor. She has mainly engaged in basic research work on the harmless treatment and resource recycling of industrial pollution for real applications. She received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2003 and 2006, respectively. In 2009, she received a Ph.D. from the Research Center for Ecological Environment Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and her advisor is Profossor Jiuhui Qu. She has been working at the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), CAS since 2009. She also has been as a visiting scholar at Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States for one year (2015).

Under the funding of National Science and Technology Major Projects etc., she innovated the common mechanisms and control methods of aqueous pollutant transformation into air/solid phases, broke through the key technologies of transformation coupling separation for industrial wastewater pollutants. She also invented commercial chemical products for the removal of phenol and cyanide pollutants in the coking industry, which have been successfully applied to more than 10 wastewater treatment projects for the steel/coal chemical industries and selected into 4 national ministries/provincial and municipal catalogs of advanced technologies and new products. Dr. Zhao has published more than 60 papers in Water Res., ES&T, etc., with a total of more than 1,000 citations, including more than 30 SCI papers as the first/corresponding author and 1 English book chapter (6 Nature Index journal articles, 3 cover/back cover articles, and the most citation by others of an article is 91). As the first inventor, 17 US and Chinese invention patents have been authorized. She was awarded a second prize of the State Technological Invention Awards, 4 science and technology awards of national first-level societies, nominated for National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation and Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of CAS. She was selected as a member and outstanding member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of CAS, outstanding prize of young scientists of the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences and the particle science award of the Chinese Society of Particuology for youth etc.

She also serves as the deputy director of the Beijing Process Pollution Control Environmental Engineering Research Center, the deputy secretary-general of the Metallurgical and Environmental Protection Committee of the China Environmental Protection Industry Association, youth editorial board member of Front. Environ. Sci. Eng. (IF=4.053) and Chinese Chem. Lett. (IF=4.632) journals, expert of Chemical and Waste Environmental Management in Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, expert of international cooperation evaluation in Science and Technology Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, expert of the Chemical Substance Environmental Risk Assessment Expert Committee in the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, achievement writing expert of National Science and Technology Major Projects etc., and as a participator in the writing of national science and technology strategy reports.
