GUO Li is the research professor and doctoral supervisor of Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is also the professor of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He joined IPE, CAS since 1989. He was admitted to Special Class for young gifted student of University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1981, graduated from the Department of Computer Science and Technology of USTC and got B.S. in 1986, obtained the M.S. Degree in IPE, CAS in 1989. He was a visiting scientist at National Center for Toxicological Research, FDA, USA in 2004 and 2008-2009. His research interests include Virtual Process Engineering (VPE), high performance computing, scientific big data analysis and Artificial Intelligence. He is the chief designer of the control and data acquisition subsystem for the VPE system which purpose is combining real-time EMMS simulations and online experimental data to provide engineers more accurate and intuitive results in the industrial-scale reactors. He was responsible for and participated in dozen of projects sponsored by NSFC, CAS, SINOPEC, etc. He holds several Chinese and American patents and has published more than 100 scientific papers and three books, two as the first author and one as the second author. He also coauthored one translated book. He received the State Council special award for Distinguished Scientists and the PCCW (Yingke) Award for Excellent Young Scholars of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2000. He is also the winner of Third Prize and the Second Prize of Scientific & Technology Advancement, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1992 and 1994 respectively, and Third Prize of Scientific & Technology Advancement, Beijing, 2007.
