male, doctor of metallurgical engineering, postdoctoral fellow of chemical engineering, professor and Ph.D. supervisor of Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences(IPE-CAS). He is the leader of the group for Eco-friendly Resources Utilization, Key Laboratory of Green Process and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a part-time professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also has many social academic part-time job, such as a member of TMS, AusIMM and IAAM, an expert committee of the National Sustainable Development Experimental Zone of the Ministry of Science and Technology, vice president of China Inorganic Salt Industry Association, the committee of Metallurgical Reaction Engineering Branch of The Chinese Society for Metals, deputy director of the editorial committee of Gold Science and Technology, etc.

Professor Duan leads a research group of nearly 30 staff carrying on technology and industrialization research on new metallurgical processes, new chemical materials, efficient extraction of salt lake resources, and equipment manufacturing. His key research domains include nonferrous metals filed such as efficient gold extraction by hydrometallurgy and complicated multi-minerals pressure leaching process, iron and steel field such as iron ore resource utilization, and efficient production of carbon-containing pellets, and large equipment optimization and manufacturing by particle damping and noise reduction technology. His group is focused on Strontium science and application research in recent 10 years.

Professor Duan was awarded the first prize of Anhui province science and technology progress in 2018, the second prize of Tianjin science and technology progress in 2007, and got the title of “National Outstanding Chemical Technology Workers” and “Beijing Outstanding Young Engineer” in 2008, etc. He was awarded the first prize for administrative and technological “Advanced Individuals in CAS-region Cooperation” in 2007, 2009, and 2011 respectively, and won the individual award of “IUR Cooperation and Innovation” held by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in 2010. He has published over 140 papers of which 54 papers have been indexed by SCI and EI, and holds over 55 patents of which 26 patents have been authorized.
