Resume

Yuguang Du, Professor, Principle investigator of the Glyco-bioengineering Group at Institute of Process Engineering (CAS), Vice Director of National Engineering Research Center for Biotechnology (Beijing), Chairman of Glyco-biotechnology Committee of Chinese biotechnology Society. Prof. Du and his co-workers have completed and are taking charge of more than twenty scientific research projects such as tackling key problems for “National Ninth/Tenth/Eleventh Five-year Plan”, National “863” Plan Project, National Key R&D Program of China, and National Natural Science Foundation. He has received five awards in provincial, ministerial or municipal levels, published more than 240 papers in the academic journals of China and abroad, participated in publishing seven books, applied more than one hundred patents (over 40 granted), have over fifty PhD and master students. Discovered oligosacchrides have been adapted for commercialization and yielding considerable social and commercial benefits. Developed oligosacchaides products include three health food products (All three has been certified by State Food and Drug Adminstration of the People’s Republic of China and begun to be industrialized), five bio-pesticide products, and feed additives (it has been certificated by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China). 

Research area:

Focusing on developing new technology of oligosaccharide analysis, separation and preparation, establishing natural oligosaccharides library. Exploring the modulation mechanisms of various oligosaccharides to the development and immunity of animals and plants. Developing new techniques on the oligosaccharide engineering, oligosaccharide health products, bio-pesticides, and feed additives. Based on microfluidic chip technologies we have developed rapid, sensitive, high-throughput portable on-site nucleic acid detection equipment and a series of kit products; have constructed tumor migration- invasion organ-on-chip using tumor and vascular cells; colorectal organ-on-chip which could realize cycle peristalsis, co-culture of intestinal bacteria and human cells; and vascular chips that simulate the physiological and pathological changes of the vascular glycocalyx under high blood glucose condition
