The industrialization fruits of clean production technologies including sub-molten salt method and a novel technology of low-temperature electrolytic aluminum developed by the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPE-CAS) were demonstrated at the "2011 Henan Industry and Technology Transfer Cooperation Conference" held in Zhengzhou city, Henan province from Aug.26 to 28.
The sub-molten salt method for chromic salt clean production opened up the door of industrialization with high efficiency, low energy waste and zero emission. The technology was developed by Associate Prof. XU Hongbin from IPE. His research group focused on the mechanism of action and regulation disciplinary of sub-molten salt unconvertional medium. They had established the sub-molten salt clean metallurgy theory and the technological platform for multiple metalloid mineral resources.
At the meeting, IPE and Bluestar Group signed an agreement on the research and landmark construction project of chromic salt clean production technology industrialization by sub-molten salt method with a 30,000 ton per year level.
A new star born in clean production technology was the low-temperature electrolytic aluminum developed by IPE. Henan province has the largest aluminum production base. The electrolytic aluminum industry was a sector with high energy waste and heavy pollution. With the novel technology, the local electrolytic aluminum industry was expected to be environmental and energy-saving, showing the potential to greatly decrease energy consumption and fulfilled technological innovation.
IPE had been focused on the research of mineral resources of difficult smelting amphoteric metals like chromium, aluminum, titanium and vanadium, which met the market demand for green technology and high-value product. The institute had developed high-efficiency reaction system based on sub-molten salt unconventional medium and the technology and equipment for multicomponent separation. The research on the recycling of metallurgy solid waste and pollution control helped IPE to get the energy-saving and emission reduction target. Achievements mainly in non-ferrous metal and chemical metallurgy fields were showed at the conference.
