Solid state fermentation development strategy conference was held on June 13 in Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Science (IPE-CAS), Beijing. Prof. Chen Hongzhang from State Key Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering, IPE-CAS presided over the meeting. Attended academic and industrial delegation were from China National Research Institute of Food & Fermentation Industries, Jiangnan University, Tianjin University of Science & Technology, Chongqing University, Shan Dong University, Zesheng Bioengineering Technology Co., Ltd., Chongqing Fuling Zhacai Group Co., Ltd., Jiangxi Tianren Ecology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu King's Luck Brewery Co., Ltd., and Jiangsu Hengshun Vinegar Industry Co., Ltd.
At the beginning of symposium, Prof. Chen summarized the current domestic and international solid-state fermentation technology research progress and problems. He emphasized that the establishment of modern large-scale solid-state fermentation industry was based on key technologies breakthrough, which were the general theory of solid-state fermentation, controllable and integrated process, standardized operation, and large-scale efficient equipment. Then, he introduced his research on solid-state fermentation. The outstanding work of his group was highly praised by experts and enterprise colleagues, and considered to be reached international advanced level.
Participating experts and business representatives agreed that, compared with liquid fermentation, solid state fermentation had great advantages in reducing fermentation waste water and energy consumption. They believed that solid state fermentation will lead the direction of the future industry development.
This symposium also delved into important issues of solid-state fermentation, including the molecular ecology, functional proteomics, process system optimization, equipment design, etc. The discussion topics involved in liquor, spices, tea, tobacco, bio-gas and other livelihood industries that are related to solid state fermentation technology.
The conference was succeed in enhancing academia and industry cooperation, improving solid state fermentation technological innovation, and promoting the solid-state fermentation industry future development in China.
