  • CAS Knowledge Innovation Projects Passed Final Acceptance

The CAS knowledge innovation research projects "Basis Standard Research on Nano-material and Nano-measurement" and "Research on Novel Medical Nanomaterials and Nanodrugs" leaded by Prof. Chen Yunfa and Ma Guanghui, respectively, passed final acceptance on March 24. The evaluation meeting was held in National Central for Nanoscience and Technology, organized by the Bureau of Basis Science and Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The two projects were the first time for IPE undertook the important programs of the "Eleventh Five-Year" nano-base. In the first project, nano-standard materials were synthesized, the uncertainties of which achieved the international advanced level. The standard materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The technical specification and standard system were established so as to guide and support the preliminary framework formation of nano-technology standard materials. In the project, five materials were approved as the grade Primary reference materials, and ten materials were approved as the grade Second reference materials. More than 120 papers in domestic and international journals were published, 16 patents (7 authorized) were applied, and 4 research results passed appraisal.

The second project focused on scientific problems in major therapeutic application of nanocarriers and nanodrugs. Researchers developed a new preparation method for microspheres embedding protein polypeptide drugs with uniform particle size, solving the protein inactivation problems in the course of embedding and release. They prepared the inject dose and oral medicines of various protein polypeptide drugs and cooperated with enterprises doing the animal experiments. The project proposed new concept of using nanotechnology simulate enzyme and was honored the Second Prize of National Invention Award. 89 papers and 47 patents (including 3 international and 17 authorized) were published in the implementation of the project.

The projects have obtained influencing innovation achievements in the world, demonstrated IPE's research force in nanoscience area and laid a solid foundation for more nano-base programs.
