  • Self-Evaluation of the Project “Songhua River Basin Heavily Polluting Industries Cleaner Production Technology and Demonstration”

A meeting for self-evaluation of the project "Songhua River basin heavily polluting industries cleaner production technology and demonstration" was held in Beijing on Jan 10, 2011. Researchers from more than ten institutes and companies attended the meeting. Prof. Cao Hongbin from Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), as the principal, made a report about the research progress of the project.

The aim of the project was to evaluate the implementation of clean production of heavy polluting industries and to carry out a comprehensive clean production technology research and demonstration projects in four fields including coal chemical, grain deep processing, chemical and pharmaceutical industry.

The demonstration projects had been reduced 2.58 million tons emissions and 31000 tons COD each year, since the technical research and project construction performed. And the reduction of pollutant made a great contribution to the Songhua River pollution control and the economic growth of enterprises. The update technology provided new ideas for waste control.

Experts from Environmental Protection Department and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) participated the meeting and made academic exchange as well.
