March 26-27, 2010, Suzhou, Jiangsu—Professor Guanghui Ma led IPE 7-people delegation attended CAS Bio Industry Innovation Alliance Conference organized by CAS Bureau of Life Sciences and Biotechnology. In the conference, Professor Ma made a theme report on IPE’s progress on biotechnology research while Dr Zhiguo Su delivered a speech on the successful experiences with Hualan Bio Engineering Co., Ltd., one of IPE’s corporate partners. In this conference, IPE’s corporate partners, Hualan, Shangdong Luye Pharm, Shijiazhuang BaiQi Chemicals and Foshan Haitian Food, signed the agreement to join the Alliance.

　　Founded in 2008, Bio Alliance aimed to establish a new cooperation model for technical innovations: to use the governmental appropriations to initiate more investments from enterprises for research and development; on the other hand, to facilitate research institutes into the corporations’ operation so as to let the scientific research more close to the market demand. Since foundation, Bio Alliance had raised tentative innovation funds over 2.5 billion yuan from enterprises. The Alliance also set up CAS-NDRC Special Fund for Hi-Tech Industrialization, which sponsored 5 projects with 53 million yuan. One of the highlight is that New Vaccine Hepatitis B project, led by Dr Zhiguo Su and Prof Guanghui Ma of IPE, got 15 million yuan.
