A large-scale production line of an anti-malaria drug has been developed by Chinese scientists that will be introduced to African countries, according to researchers.
The Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, worked with the Tianyuan Biotechnology Company (TBC) in a plant in central China’s Henan Province to create a large-scale production line for artemisinin, which is made from the herb wormwood. TBC has been manufacturing the drug successfully for a year.
