  • Multi-Scale Simulation and Scale-up Technique Passed Mid-Term Checkup

May 13, 2010, IPE, Building, Beijing—Mid-Term Evaluation Meeting for Multi-Scale Simulation and Scale-up Technique of Process Industry and its Application in Petrochemical Industry, a project sponsored by National Science & Technology Pillar Program was held. Deputy Director Guiju Liu of CAS Hi-Tech Bureau presided over the meeting. Professor Jinghai Li, CAS vice president, and officials from MOST and CAS and Professor Suojiang Zhang, Professor Ming Jiang and Director Qingfen Liu of IPE attended the meeting.

Dr Wei Ge, the project manager and leaders of 5 task forces gave a detailed report on project status, expenditure and future plan to the evaluation panel consisting experts and professors from BIT, Tsinghua, China Petroleum University (Beijing), BUAA, CNPC, CAS Software Institute, SinoChem and SinoPec Exploration & Production Research Institute. The panel inquired and discussed in details with the project team. They concluded the team completed the tasks listed in the assignment: set up both hardware and software platform for multi scale simulation for scaling up process with independent IPR; major progress in applications in high performance computation field and petrochemical industry. Through mid term evaluation, the panel believed that the project was on the schedule for the objectives in each period and suggested the project term should pay attention on the user-friendliness of the software and the practices in actual project to make full use of the simulation platform.
