Emerging strategic industries will become a new leading force for future development. The Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPE-CAS) has been yielded great achievements in scientific research. These results were showed at the Shaoxing-CAS emerging strategic industries cooperation meeting held jointly by CAS and Shaoxing city, Zhejiang province, eastern of China on August 31.

A series of research achievements developed by IPE including antibacterial materials, membrane method for waste water treatment, desulfuration and denitration technology, preparation of microcapsule and microspheres and the crystallization technique for drug production. With the technologies, Shaoxing industries in printing and dying wastewater treatment, catalyst research and development, new materials and novel drug development will be driven. The projects of these technologies were attractive for local enterprises in medicine, environment and biotechnology sectors.

IPE has the key technologies of resources clean production and conversion process. The research achievements are perfect and exactly meet demand for local industry development, which also provide scientific support for Shaoxing economic transition, solving problems in resources and environment and forming competitive advantages. The two sides are looking forward to deep cooperation in emerging strategic industries.

China has designated seven emerging strategic industries for foreign direct investment, including energy conservation and environmental protection, new information technology, biotechnology, advanced equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials and new-energy vehicles.
