IPE Research Project Honored with Beijing Science and Technology Award

The awarding ceremony for 2009 Beijing Science and Technology Award and 2011 Beijing Science and Technology Working Conference were held at the Beijing Convention Center on April 28.

Liu Qi, the secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Guo Jinlong, the mayor of Beijing presented at the conferences.The project  "A Flue Gas Desulfurization Technology of The Inner and Outer Circulating Fluidized Bed (IOCFB)", undertaken by IPE Professor Zhu Tingyu was honored with the Second Prize of 2009 Beijing Science and Technology Award.

The emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) produced by industrial boiler and kiln takes up more than 40% of the total in China. It is necessary to take effective measures to strengthen the control of industrial boiler and kiln gas desulphurization. Pro. Zhu Tingyu and his group developed the IOCFB desulfurization technique that was applied to industrial boiler and kiln gas desulphurization. The project was supported by National 863 Program. Innovative achievements including the composite internals, high efficiency external cyclone separator in the desulfurization technique were attained, bringing about environmental and economic benefits in society.
