A two-day workshop for IPE development strategy in 2011 kicked off on Friday in Beijing and more than 150 leading cadres, academicians, scholars, officials and student representatives attended the workshop. Li Jinghai, vice president of CAS presented at the workshop and delivered an important speech.
“China is facing to crisis in resources, energy and environment fields in the course of rapid industrialization development. It is significant to develop process engineering although problems and challenges exist. IPE has to find its niche and focus on three aspects: to break through the bottleneck in economic development by integrated advantages; to break through the bottleneck in science and technology by long-term accumulation; and to develop work of foresightness.” Li Jinghai underscored in the speech.
On behalf of IPE leading group, director Zhang Suojiang gave a presentation on general situation of the institute including progress, strategy, the Twelfth Five-Year Plan and prospects. Scientists from the innovation group made reports on personnel, mechanism and platforms construction.
Yao Yan, president of China Building Materials Academy and Wang Xiqing, chief of Quality Department from Shanghai Institute of Ceremics, CAS introduced their measures and effects of reform and innovation, providing precious experience for IPE sustainable development.
In the workshop, IPE orientated the development in playing a leading and supporting role of green process replaced by large-scale resource conversion and utilization in process industry reform. The research focused on multi-scale, coal, minerals and biochemistry fields; strengthened the research on materials, solar energy, green medium and catalysis. Talents introduction and cultivation policy was discussion as well. In the Twelfth-Year Plan period, the goal of IPE is to establish a global research and development center in process engineering.
